Ground Penetrating Radar Services
Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is a geophysical method using the latest radar technology to image the subsurface.
More simply stated, GPR is like “ultrasound for the ground”.
While Ground Penetrating Radar can be used to detect shallow graves, it is most commonly used in the environmental and engineering field as a non-destructive method. GPR utilizes electromagnetic radiation (less than today’s mobile telephones) to image the subsurface. It detects objects of all composition (not just limited to metallic objects), changes in material, as well as voids and crack. What’s more, it can be used on a variety of media, including soil, rock, concrete, and ice.
OUR SERVICES
Ground Penetrating Radar at Tadco
Tadco owns and operates the latest GPR Unit. Known as the SIR® 3000, this technology is equipped with a 400 MHz antenna and a powerful data-logger/software package.
Though primarily used for detecting and mapping utility pipes, Tadco utilizes this equipment and expertise to examine shallow subsurface structures/objects, especially underground storage tanks (USTs).
Tadco’s certified staff has received extensive training in this equipment’s use.
